GSHC vs. SFC

I'll start off by saying, sorry this isn't in French! If someone wants to translate this into french, PLEASE go ahead
After the first game of the season, my friend and I went to McSorleys for a beer and to discuss how she enjoyed her first ever hockey game. We sat down, drank a few beers and were there when the players started to arrive. Straight away kids, older fans and pretty much anyone was rushing over asking for signatures from the players. They were happy to oblige, posing for photos signing and talking to the fans. I even saw someone help translate into english for someone.
Then at the same time, there were a few players from Servette FC walking around in their polo shirts. Some kids went over and asked for their autographs. They turned them away and laughed at them. I mean, I'm sorry but am I wrong in assuming that they are the club with all the debt problems, the one begin people to come watch them... the one who can't put a single win under their belt?! I mean, I bought a season ticket to go see them play... and every time I look at it now, I feel sick. These guys deserve NOTHING from us!
Anyway, to summarise: This is why hockey is the best sport on the planet. We are a family. We look out for each other, and no matter where you come from, what language you speak -If your heart is GSHC, that is all that matters.

1) which SFC players are you talking about ?
2) do they belong to the 1st team ?
3) are you sure they were SFC players ? not just fans ? (just saying this coz' i saw some guys with SFC polo too, but they were not players from SFC)
4) i was at the pub that day but didn't see any single players from Servette FC
5) finally, you don't seem to be able to talk/write in French (ok, it's not a problem) but you provide us with a great detailed report about what happened...were they talking in English ?

5. Pretty sure he's good enough at french but like sooo many "expat" can't be arsed speaking it :p lazy mofos :p
Perhaps SFC being in a terrible spot while the GSHC players are doing so good is making a difference regarding the behavior, but yeah, as a general rule football players are mostly uneducated thugs while hockey carries much better values. Family being one of them.

Well, to begin with Cole is right. I can speak fluent French (helps when you work at a pub in the old town of Geneva), but my written french is another thing. I don't think my dyslexia and difficulty to write in English till I was 16 helped either.
As for everything else, yes they were players (they had the football bags with the SFC logo on them), but if they were first team, or second team is another matter. Needless to say, the way the kids ran up to them: I would imagine they were well known.

Well, I've been seeing SFC players on Vernets too lately, but no kids to ask them autographs
I guess being last and playing like goats (not GOATs) doesn't help

I have been for the last 50 years (more or less) a fan of both Servette FC and Servette HC (now GSHC). I must say that the general evolution of football does not please met at all. This has nothing to do with the respective successes of FC and HC, but I must say that, for the last ten years at least, I have been enjoying to watch hockey much more than football. The more I watch hockey, the more I find football boring. And, although money plays of course a role in hockey, it is not, by far, as damaging as in football, where at the top level ( not speaking of Geneva, of course) it tends to become a pure exercise in money laundering.
Also, I find the atmosphere in Les Vernets absolutely fantastic, whilst, tonight, the songs of the courageous Servette FC fans reminded me, in their vulgarity, those heard in the BCF Arena of Fribourg Gotteron. (it is true that in Fribourg, there is almost no football to be watched!).
However, I would love the 2 sports to be successful in Geneva ---
